Job Description: Utility Fleet Manager
Position Overview:
The Utility Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the fleet operations of a utility company. This role involves planning, coordinating, and supervising the maintenance, repair, and replacement of utility vehicles, equipment, and associated assets. The Utility Fleet Manager ensures fleet efficiency, compliance with safety standards, and optimal utilization of resources.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement fleet management strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
2. Plan, schedule, and prioritize fleet maintenance, repairs, and replacements to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.
3. Monitor and maintain accurate records of fleet inventory, maintenance history, and equipment specifications.
4. Collaborate with various departments to forecast fleet replacement needs and recommend appropriate procurement strategies.
5. Evaluate fleet performance, analyze data, and generate reports to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
6. Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national regulations related to fleet operations, safety standards, and environmental sustainability.
7. Oversee the selection, training, and development of fleet personnel, including mechanics and drivers.
8. Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure timely and quality fleet maintenance and repairs.
9. Manage fleet budgets, monitor expenses, and identify cost-saving initiatives while maintaining service quality.
10. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in fleet management to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, engineering, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in fleet management, preferably in the energy or utilities industry.
3. Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance, repair, and replacement practices.
4. Familiarity with utility vehicles, specialized equipment, and associated assets.
5. Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
6. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, generate reports, and make data-driven decisions.
7. Strong leadership and team management skills to motivate and supervise fleet personnel.
8. Proficient in using fleet management software and other relevant tools.
9. Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental compliance related to fleet operations.
